8. The Supervision Team

• In most districts, there are other administrators that can assist the principal in the supervision process. They typically include central office administrators and assistant principals. The principal needs to bring this team together, share data regarding teachers, and determine how the team will work towards accomplishing the goals laid out in this book. All members need to have the same vision and understanding of the process. In some cases, team members can rotate responsibilities. In the case of assistant principals, the boss needs to find activities that will build their expertise, which often means involving them in professional development activities similar to those the teachers use. The bottom line, it’s up to the principal to get things right.
