• Instructional leadership is a multifaceted job that in today’s school environment requires one to give priority to teaching and learning. Leaders need to be well informed and attend to their own professional development. One needs to diffuse leadership among the school community as top-down decision-making is likely to meet resistance. This involves collaboration and extending authority beyond the person in the position. The exact nature of one’s leadership style is heavily dependent on the context, climate, and culture of the school community. One must recognize the importance of relationships, and be committed to success for all students.
