Since I started this blog in 2009 after caring for my wife who died from ALS, I have summarized 200 nonfiction books. Many are from the field of education, but most are more general in nature. While I don’t think it’s possible to run schools like a profit-making business, I do feel that educators can learn from the business world and from other social sciences such as psychology. If you want to engage in some fast and effective professional development this summer and beyond, start reading my summaries. Each one should take about fifteen minutes so they are great if you don’t have a lot of time.

If you haven’t read the book, reading the summary will certainly let you know if you want to buy the book. I encourage you to do so to support the authors of these important works. If there is any topic related to education that you are researching or just interested in, you can search this site. You can also go to my five archive pages on the left of my home page and search there. After a daily post has been up for about a month, the individual items are moved to one on my five archive pages. While you can also search the Internet, the items stored on my archive pages have been vetted for quality and accuracy by someone who has been in education full time since 1969.

The first three topics deal with social media, learning, and leadership. The fourth features my daily inspirational quotes. There are well over one thousand here and they all feature attractive images along with the quote. You could share one each day with your class or print your favorites to hand on your wall in school or at home. They contain good advice and tips that can make your day. The final page is my humor/music/cool stuff grab bag. Rather than searching here, you can just scroll through the items looking for something entertaining. You can’t miss. • If you are looking for a good read, look no further. Since I started this blog in 2009 after my wife died from ALS, I have summarized 193 books and 194 is in the works. Each summary should take about ten minutes to read and covers all of the key concepts in the book. They are designed to help my readers make purchasing decisions, and for people who have already read the book, they can be used to review and internalize the main ideas.
• All of the books are nonfiction. Some are books that deal directly with education while others are aimed at business or general audiences. In all cases, they are books that offer sound advice and knowledge for busy parents and educators who represent my target audience. The list under the BOOK SUMMARIES link at the top of my home page is in alphabetical order by title. Book titles starting with “The” can be found in the T section. Enjoy!

This company claims it can use nuclear waste to make batteries that last 28,000 years without charging. the more complete charge cycles a battery undergoes, the closer it gets to the end of its useful life. Manufacturers tend to warranty their batteries for eight years, or 100,000 miles.
